Notes:
I feel that the rain drops are used as a metaphor for tear drops of pain and regret. We all have been hurt in some way or another by someone and we swear to ourselves that next time we won’t let down our guard. Unfortunately we always seem to and we get hurt again, are angry with ourselves for doing it, and just wish we could get out of this place and time where we are feeling so hurt and low. But it is truly like we are running from the rain because no matter where we go it is impossible not to think about our troubles just like it is impossible to run from the rain even though “we’ll keep on trying until the bitter end.” |
One drop at a time is hitting the ground
I’m driving so fast this time I won’t turn around
The darker the night ain’t dragging me down
I just go faster when I think of you and that tiny town
Chorus
And I am running from the rain
Trying not to feel the pain
Say goodbye to the heart you held in the palm of your hand
You might find me on a train
Watch me leaving on a plane
Don’t ya know that I, keep running from the rain
I should’ve known better than to let you in
I swore I’d never put my heart through this again
But playing a game that I can’t win
But I keep on driving until the bitter end
Chorus
Let it wash away my tears
Take me far away from here
Chorus
And I am running from the rain
Trying not to feel the pain
Say goodbye to the heart you held in the palm of your hand
You might find me on a train
Watch me leaving on a plane
Don’t ya know that I, keep running from the rain
Running from the rain
Running from the rain
I keep running from the rain
